From the Photographers
Dallas & Maddy’s engagement session was nothing short of magical — not just because of the sweeping fields and rustic barn on his family’s farm in Barnesville, PA, but because it’s the same place where Dallas popped the question! The proposal happened in the pumpkin field behind the barn after one of their evening walks, and it perfectly captured their playful, sarcastic, and love-filled relationship.
Capturing their engagement in the very place where their next chapter began made this session extra special. These two shared stories, laughter, and a whole lot of love during our shoot — and we’re so excited to celebrate with them as their journey continues!
How they Met & The Proposal
One of dallas’s friends one night randomly told dallas that he should talk to this girl. dallas then found me on snapchat, sent me some snaps and we never stopped talking!
Since we live on the farm, it is very common for us to walk around the property looking at fields to see how they are coming up. one night after dinner dallas asked me if i wanted to take a walk, so we did. we walked around to a few fields, and apparently dallas tried to do it then, but i had turned around… so we were in a pumpkin field behind the barn. i was joking with dallas asking if he even planted this field because nothing was sprouted. he told me to keep looking, visibly annoyed nothing was sprouted. as the dog was rolling in the field, i turned to talk to dallas and he was down on a knee. i instantly said “don’t mess with me right now” because dallas’s first language is sarcasm and i never know what to expect. he said nothing, i started laughing and crying. we walked back from the barn and i looked at dallas and said, i do say yes by the way since you didn’t officially ask. i asked him who knew, and he told me no one at all. he didn’t tell anyone he was planning propose besides his mom. she was hours before scrubbing his hands clean but she had no clue what he planned or when
Best Part of Being Engaged + Some Advice
The excitement of a new journey with my person and working through it together, continuing to learn things about each other and with each other
We’d love to be a resource for others and we’re sure that your experience can make a difference & help someone else. we did a 2 year time span from engagment to wedding day and it was SUCH a great experience being able to plan in time. my biggest advice is to not lose site of your own vision and wants for your own wedding. take the time you need/want to plan. take opinions with a grain of salt and stick to what you’re wanting. don’t stress through the process, make it a positive experience
