We matched on Tinder and went to a bar called Milkboy on South Street in Philly. We randomly chose seats to the far left of the bar. We knew it was a standup comedy open mic night, and we didn’t realize there was a small stage next to us. We ended up having accidental front-row seats and spent about 45 minutes fake-laughing at bad comedy until I finally asked Dylan if we could go somewhere else.
We got engaged on 11/21/2021. Dylan planned a trip to the Poconos and told me he had made dinner reservations at a fancy restaurant. I casually mentioned this to one of my coworkers, and she immediately told me I needed to make sure my nails were done in case Dylan proposed. On the last day of the trip, we went on a full-day shopping spree, which of course, included bougie treats from a dog bakery for Buster. After shopping, we went to the fancy dinner Dylan had planned — I kinda felt like he was going to propose at dinner and was a little discouraged when he didn’t. When we got back to the Airbnb, Dylan wanted to get a fire going, and I was giving Buster one of his bougie treats. I heard Dylan call my name, and when I turned around, he was on one knee. Of course, I said yes, and I’m still not exactly sure if Dylan is more proud of our engagement or that he was able to set up his phone and get it on video.
The excitement leading up to our big day is the best part about being engaged. As for advice, we chose a venue that offered a TON of services — they have a partnered florist, bakery, and caterer, so we didn’t need to find as many vendors. They also provide a wedding planner and will assist with rehearsal dinners and send-off brunches!
