From the Photographers
Kyle and Truie's engagement session at Domaine Pterion was one for the books — and not just because they brought their ball python, Salem, along for the ride. Despite an overcast sky, the moody light worked in our favor, giving us dramatic silhouettes under sprawling trees, warm intimate moments by the rustic stone fireplace, and a dip kiss on the lawn that stopped time. These two came dressed in full cowboy style, completely comfortable in their own skin, and it translated into photographs that feel genuinely them. Salem, for the record, was a total professional. Domaine Pterion continues to be one of our absolute favorite venues in Pennsylvania, and Kyle and Truie's session reminded us exactly why we love what we do.
How they Met + The Proposal
We met online on Facebook Dating. Our first date was at Iron Hill restaurant and we stayed so long talking that we were the last to leave when they closed. Our second date wound up being 17 and a half hours long! We originally planned to just attend an expo in the morning for a couple hours but we were having such a good time that we decided to drive to Field of Screams (we both love Halloween!) and stayed there until after midnight! We’ve been inseparable since!
We were invited to a wedding in Charlotte, NC and decided to make a mini-vacation out of the trip, so we left early and rented a beautiful cabin in the mountains outside of Charlotte. Kyle suggested going out for a nice dinner so we got dressed up and headed out for the night. But instead of going to a restaurant, he detoured and drove us to The Pretty Place Chapel. It was a small open air chapel on the top of a mountain with breathtaking views! We sat in the pews for a little while alongside about a dozen other people just enjoying the peace and scenery. At sunset we walked down to the edge of the lookout and Kyle bent down on one knee and proposed. When we turned around everyone started clapping and cheering. They all walked down to congratulate us with hugs and handshakes. One women said “We hope you don’t mind, but as soon as he knelt down, we all took out our phones to take pictures and videos!” Thanks to the kindness of strangers we have beautiful pictures that captured the moment! They then gathered around us and one gentleman said a prayer and blessing for us. It was such a special and unforgettable memory!
Best Part of being Engaged + Some Advice
The anticipation of the wedding is the best part! We can’t wait to be married! We have a countdown calendar that we change every weekend that has turned into a fun tradition. We get renewed butterflies of excitement every week as we get closer and closer to the big day!
Start planning early! Give yourself enough time to plan in bursts so you have breaks in between to rest. The down time in between decision making gives you time to reflect and refresh so you’re not constantly stressed and overwhelmed. Take time to go on fun dates and relax and enjoy each other throughout the process.
